Responsible for the growth, leadership and management of the door, frame & hardware department. Possesses a strong understanding of the market, industry and supply chain and can create and execute the strategy of the department. Is entrepreneurial and innovative in growing the business. Researches and develops vendor/manufacturer relationships. Assists in developing objectives and strategies in support of overall corporate business goals. The doors, frames & hardware manager will build and manage a team that adheres to established core values, and delivers the highest level of customer service and financial results.
Duties, Responsibilities and Task Analysis
Participate with the VP and other members of senior management team in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term goals, strategies, and business plans.
Present updates at senior management meetings.
Prepare overhead budgets for department.
Manage overhead budgets and report to VP quarterly.
Manage the department. Provide a safe and positive office environment for employees.
Take ownership and accountability for the department.
Initiate suggestions to company-wide managers and BPO for process improvements.
Define department staffing strategy to ensure needs are met.
Analyze staffing requirements of the department.
Responsible overall for hiring, firing, evaluating, promoting, and compensating department personnel.
Report all referenced actions prior to initiating.
Prepare and execute yearly performance evaluations and individual development plans of all direct reports.
Engage VP in all personnel issues and conflicts.
Oversee the management of department schedules, job distribution, workloads, and project assignments.
Develop department leadership team, oversee development of professional staff.
Involve VP in all interviews associated with the department.
Prepare training plan for development of all employees.
Define and oversee strategy for growth through innovative expansion of doors, frames & hardware scope.
Prepare revenue and profit projections.
Identify, pursue, build and strengthen relationships with key vendors and manufacturers.
Build strategic relationship with key vendors and manufacturers to partner on projects for competitive advantage.
Report on quarterly basis.
Analyze projects to determine strategic value and competitive direction.
Share strategy with VP prior to bidding a project.
Guide team in bidding projects to meet annual order and profit goals.
Oversee vendor and manufacturer development, maintain current accounts. Generate new business with target construction opportunities.
Report on quarterly basis.
Establish and meet or exceed goals annually; manage against department overhead accounts.
Implement DFH software tracking system to manage engineering, detailing and coordination of the DFH business.
Research and advise on all available systems and software on an annual basis.
Coordinate with VP of IT on any proposed solutions annually.
Oversee execution of trade shows
Update VP monthly of all efforts associated with defined responsibility.
Build and maintain direct buy network with all manufacturers domestic and international.
Maintain strong working knowledge of doors, frames & hardware construction methods, risks, industry trends and major competitors.
Oversees and works closely with Door Frame Hardware Preconstruction Manager on all aspects of estimating, procurement and engineering, including but not limited to the following:
Take the lead to initiate, identify and execute bid strategies, work closely with VP, DFH PCS Manager and Regional Preconstruction Managers prior to and on bid day with vendor communications. Make quick, sound decisions at bid time for a complete and competitive bid.
Understand project scope requirements sufficiently to help direct decision to outsource or vendor pricing.
Oversee estimating and purchasing processes, vendor selections and outsource procurement. Monitor update meetings to discuss progress, risk, strategies, issues and actions.
Oversee design, engineering and detailing process.
Execute vendor/manufacturer contracts.
Copy VP and Regional teams on all contracts.
Responsible for resolution of conflicts with vendors/manufacturers. Involve senior management as required.
Monitor vendor/manufacturer workloads, products, and capabilities to ensure proper vendor matches to projects.
Ensure commitment to Core Values are maintained throughout the construction process.

Preferred Qualifications(In addition to minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent field.
15 years of experience in commercial construction management position.
Ability to mentor and coach subordinates in a start-up environment.
Use of DFH software, systems and other technology tools.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and related commercial construction experience.
Minimum of 10 years commercial construction experience with 5 years in a leadership position.
