We are looking for an experienced industry veteran to join our team as a Senior Door and Frame Detailer. This individual will focus on detailing and pricing hollow metal doors, hollow metal frames and wood doors for our Major Projects Division, working on projects like hospitals, office towers and post-secondary institutions.

The Role:
As a key part of Trillium’s project team, Door and Frame Detailers work closely with our Estimators, Project Managers, Purchasers and Vendors to keep our door and frame orders organized, on track and on budget.
Senior Detailers work on large, complex projects. They must be technically proficient and should have a very solid grasp of machining requirements, anchoring, door construction, building codes, fire ratings and specialty openings (e.g. acoustic, lead-lined, bullet/blast resistant).
We need someone who can accurately detail and price the door and frame components at the project tender stage, then carry through with detailing, ordering and reviewing change orders throughout construction.
Senior Detailers also provide mentorship and guidance to others in the department.
Responsibilities:
Review specification manuals and construction drawings to produce accurate take-offs, estimates, details and shop drawings
Ensure door and frame orders are fully coordinated with all the required hardware and electronic preps, details and delivery schedules
Place, track and review orders with vendors and internal teams (Purchasing, Project Managers, Installers)
Review manufacturers’ order acknowledgements and confirm prep information and engineered drawings are correct prior to fabrication
Work closely with manufacturers to achieve the best solutions, pricing, quality and service
Provide comments and notes to be included with Requests for Information (RFIs)
Review change orders, pricing, shop drawing submittals and delivery schedules
Evaluate and explain cost discrepancies when they occur
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a cooperative team player with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. You are proactive, diligent and able to learn on the fly.
A very high level of technical proficiency with doors, frames and hardware is required
Minimum 10 years of industry experience with a distributor or manufacturer of steel or wood doors and frames
DHI credentials are desirable, but not required
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and multitasking skills
Strong proficiency with MS Excel is required; CAD experience is a plus
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
